John Denver was a superstar singer who touched millions with his pop-folk songs, many of which were based in Colorado. He was born Henry John Deutschendorf Jr. in Roswell New Mexico, the singer-songwriter fell in affection with Colorado and eventually relocated to Aspen. Denver's state anthems are a source of inspiration for people to travel to Colorado. G. Brown, curator of Colorado Music Hall of Fame said the following: John Denver is the only performer to embody Colorado. Denver became the one of the first Hall of Fame inductee in 2011. Denver is a symbol of the state for all people. On my journeys around the world, I have met many people who are not from Colorado. They will declare, "Oh John Denver!" when they hear that you are from Colorado. Brown stated. Denver's debut Top 10 hit as a solo artist after a short time in folk-based group included Take Me Home Country Roads composed by Bill Danoff. Danoff had originally written the tune with Johnny Cash's music with a focus on Johnny Cash, however Denver was aware from the very first time he heard the first versions of the song that it was going to be an instant success. The song was recorded just a few weeks after the Washington D.C. performance.
